G8-2-20 Pressure Jet Testfire

In late 1950, Eugene Michael Gluhareff and his wife, Alla, made the bold decision to start a new life so they packed up the family and moved to California. The sunshine state was the new frontier where you could make dreams come true and Eugene had a dream of his own.

E. Gluhareff Helicopter Corporation was created in 1951 in Manhattan Beach, California specifically for the development of a pressure jet engine. No one knew what it was but that didn’t stop Eugene and he was going to prove to everyone it would work. At this time in history, there was a real interest in the advancement of human transport and Mr. Gluhareff answered the call with a totally new and innovative approach to jet propulsion.

The pressure jet was literally unknown in the world of aviation and didn’t conform to any of the conventional jet designs already introduced and accepted in the world of aviation. The concept upon which the engine was based is very simple and Eugene knew there was great potential, especially as a power source for helicopters. Eugene persevered and after several years and many, many hours of testing, he finally got it right and the G8-2 Gluhareff Pressure Jet Engine was born.

The many different types of experimental, flying machines that were developed using the G8-2 Pressure Jet Engine were a testament to its potential and reliability. Mr. Gluhareff was recognized as a true pioneer with his unconventional ideas and designs and soon developed a loyal following. Unfortunately, conditions changed and development of the engine ceased. Decades later when Mr. Gluhareff was in semi-retirement, he was finally able to devote time again to building his personal helicopter, the EMG-300. He was on the cusp of discovery to perfecting it when, sadly, and suddenly, he passed away in 1994.

Gluhareff Helicopters today is dedicated to seeing that dream come true and Mr. Gluhareff’s spirit lives on as an inspiration to never give up. What started out as a simple dedication site in honor of his memory has turned into a quest that has taken on a life of its own. Because of incredible support from family, friends and followers, Gluhareff Helicopters is committed to continuing the development of the G8-2 Pressure Jet Engine and Mr. Gluhareff’s legacy.
